Oppo launched its new affordable smartphone, the Oppo A83 in China. The smartphone sports a new facial recognition feature and comes with a display with aspect ratio of 18:9. The Oppo A83 comes with a price tag of CNY 1,399, which is roughly Rs 13,700. The smartphone is now available for pre-order in China and will come in Black and Champagne color options. The sale will start from December 29. However, there is no information available for now on when the phone will be available in other markets.
Talking about the specifications of the phone, the Oppo A83 comes with a 5.7 inch HD+ LCD display with 720 x 1440 pixels resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by a 2.5GHz octa-core processor and runs Color OS 3.2-based on top of Android 7.1 Nougat OS. In terms of storage, the smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card. In terms of camera, the Oppo A83 sports a 13 mega pixel camera and an LED flash in the rear side. In the front, the phone sports an 8 mega pixel camera for selfies and video calling.
The Oppo A83 is backed by a 3090mAh battery. The other connectivity options in the Oppo A83 smartphone include dual-SIM, 4G support, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, Micro-USB and Wi-Fi Direct. The sensors in the phone include Proximity sensor, Accelerometer and Compass. The phone measures 150.3 x 73.1mm x 7.7mm and weighs 143 grams. The company claims that the new facial unlock feature in the Oppo A83 can unlock the device within 0.18 seconds using 128 unique feature points on the user’s face.
Notably, Oppo has also launched two of its new smartphones recently in the Taiwan market, the Oppo A75 and the Oppo A75s. Both phone sport a 6.0 inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio.
